In the fraternal Kyrgyz country, the VI International Aitys of Kazakh and Kyrgyz akyns was organized as part of the World Nomad Games. It was attended by 16 akyns from the two countries, who engaged in heated poetic competitions over three days.
The roots of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz aitys go deep into history. It celebrated harmony and peace, unity and prosperity of the two neighboring peoples. The traditions of akyns Suyunbai and Katagan, Zhambyl and Toktagul continue to this day.
At the competitions on the Kyrchyn jailau, two akyns from our region — Meirbek Sultankhan and Mukhtar Niyazov — won the grand prize and first place!
Continuing the succession of teacher-student traditions, they celebrated the unbreakable friendship, harmony, and mutual respect of the great masters.
