Starting September 1, 2026, Kazakhstan introduces mandatory digital labeling for beer and beer beverages packaged in glass containers. All products manufactured within the country or imported from abroad starting on this date are subject to mandatory Data Matrix code labeling.
Phased Implementation of Beer and Beer Beverage Labeling:
- February 1, 2026 – Products in kegs
- September 1, 2026 – Products in glass bottles
- January 1, 2027 – Products in aluminum cans
The introduction of digital labeling will ensure end-to-end traceability of goods across the entire supply chain—from the manufacturer or importer to the retail consumer. It will also guarantee the electronic execution and confirmation of documents during the transfer of products between market participants.
What Market Participants Need to Do:
-
Register in the Goods Labeling and Traceability Information System (IS MPT) on the portal tanba.markirovka.kz.
-
Complete and register product cards.
-
Complete procedures in advance to obtain and apply labeling codes.
-
Ensure the readiness of equipment and accounting systems to transmit and confirm electronic documents during the turnover of labeled goods.
Important Note on Unlabeled Inventory: The sale of unlabeled remaining stock of beer and beer beverages manufactured or imported prior to the mandatory labeling enforcement date is permitted for one calendar year, in accordance with the approved list.
Market participants are advised not to delay preparation until September 1. Timely launch of these processes will help avoid disruptions in product sales and ensure a seamless transition to the new legal requirements.
